Cast

Marcin Kurowski (Lane) is a scientist and theater enthusiast, balancing objective truth with the magic of the stage.

Max Gorbachev (Algernon Moncrieff) is delighted to perform Oscar Wilde, and doing so alongside Solvin Sigurdson feels like winning the Powerball. He wants to thank all the crew behind the production and since the play highlights the significance of being true to yourself and others, Max has finally summoned the courage to confess to his wonderful wife that their pet pigeon Kluebochek didn't break her favourite vase. It was, of course, the aliens.

Solvin Sigurdson (John Worthing) is delighted to welcome you to this hilarious production of The Importance of Being Earnest. He is a 3rd year graduate student doing research in robotics, which really just means he always wanted to be a Skywalker. Solvin has appeared in EXPLiCIT's productions of The Real Inspector Hound, Twelfth Night, TACIT's production of Earth Data: The Musical, and looks forward to more theatre at Caltech. He hopes that you enjoy the show, and that you find some Earnest connection with your loved ones this holiday season.

Tiffany Kim (Augusta Bracknell) is a Grants Manager with the Division of Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy (PMA). In her spare time she plays in various theater groups across campus, and has enjoyed taking part in this ‘Wilde' production!

Mahak Mathur (Hon. Gwendolen Fairfax) is a junior studying Mechanical Engineering with an interest in aerospace applications. This is her second production with EXPLiCIT, and she's really enjoyed being a part of this incredibly talented group! She is absolutely confident you will enjoy this show, even if your name is not Ernest.

Joyce Kim (Lætitia Prism) is a staff member at Caltech in her 2nd performance in an EXPLiCIT production. She is a very trivial person who is excited to take part in this very serious play.

Sarah Madden (Cecily Cardew) is a freshman at Caltech. This is her first play in years, and she's very excited to be acting here.

Ankan Mukherjee (Rev. Frederick Chasuble, D.D.) is a third year Applied Physics graduate student studying 2-D materials in the Nadj-Perge lab. In the meagre amount of time he is outside the lab, he loves acting and participating in theatre productions.

Jin Park (Merriman) is a first year physics major originally from South Korea. Earnest is his first production and he hopes to participate in more plays throughout his Caltech career.

Crew

Miranda Stewart (Director) is a film and theater director. She has also directed EXPLiCIT's recent productions of "Twelfth Night" and "The Real Inspector Hound." Working with the passionate Caltech theater community is simply the best!

Seri Jane Kim (Stage Manager) is a junior at the California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley (CSArts) in the Production & Design conservatory. She enjoys using her creativity to build sets/props and working behind the scenes. She has crewed several high school productions and this is her third Caltech production. She is proud to be involved in EXPLiCIT's The Importance of Being Earnest as the Stage Manager.

Elena Scire (Set Design) has worked on Explicit/Tacit plays since 2012. She is very concerned about poor Bunbury and hopes he feels better soon.

Laura Flower Kim (Props and Costumes Assistant) has worked with Caltech's International Student Programs for 17+ years. She has attended numerous performances by TACIT and EXPLiCIT and enjoys supporting students and community members in their creative endeavors. Apart from her on-stage theatrics at International Orientation, being backstage or in the audience is more her style. She is honored to be in service to this beautiful community of cast and crew who bring this production to life.

Cai Tong Ng (Props) is a graduate student studying DNA replication regulation in humans. She thinks that both Gwendolen and Cecily could have done better - finding themselves some real Earnests.

Linda Muggeridge (Costumes) loves storytelling. In every phase of her varied career, storytelling has been a goal and a joy. In theater, every time an actor inhabits a costume, that wardrobe needs to instantly tell the audience a very short but effective story about that character. Working with the director, the actor, and other designers to make that story is Linda's idea of awesome. It is a whole other level of awesomeness to work together with students to use what they are learning in school - history, literature, physics - to sculpt their look and connect it with the bigger picture and the human experience. Her website is manyhatzcostumes.com.

Finn Swanson (Lighting) is a freshman undergraduate student planning to study electrical engineering. He enjoyed helping out with lighting on his high school's theatre productions and is excited to continue that at Caltech.

Max Gorbachev (Sound Design) is delighted to perform Oscar Wilde, and doing so alongside Solvin Sigurdson feels like winning the Powerball. He wants to thank all the crew behind the production and since the play highlights the significance of being true to yourself and others, Max has finally summoned the courage to confess to his wonderful wife that their pet pigeon Kluebochek didn't break her favourite vase. It was, of course, the aliens.
